Welcome!

Welcome to the Zion Women blog, created especially for those women currently studying "Living Beyond Yourself" by Beth Moore at Zion Lutheran Church. Because our time together on Sunday mornings doesn't allow for as much discussion as we'd like, this blog was created as a place where we can share insights, ask questions, and make comments about what we're hearing, reading, and learning. Listening to the videotapes is wonderful; doing the homework is a fantastic way to go deeper in God's precious Word. But let's face it; some of us learn best and remember more when we're TALKING. We like to bounce ideas off other human beings, tell our stories, and ask questions. We like to know what other women are thinking and doing in response to the leading of the Spirit. We like our learning and living to be active and personal. So let's dive in!

Check this blog each week for insights and/or questions based on the "Living Beyond" study. These posts are designed to spur our thinking and talking. They are an invitation to engage. Please add to the discussion with WHATEVER thoughts struck you during your time in the study and in the Word. At the end of each post is a little button that says "comments." When you click on that, a page will open up where you can write your questions and comments. Please don't be shy! And check back to see what others have contributed, too. If you get in the habit of reading the posts on the opening page, clicking through to read the comments, and adding your contributions to the discussion, we can create here a lively place of encouragement and growth. Please email Rachel Boyer at rboyer6@gmail.com if you have any questions.

If you've made it this far, congratulations! If you want to go the next step and make a comment, you can do so by signing in with Blogger/Google if you're already set up with them, or, if not, you can still post comments by clicking either Nickname (whatever name you want to go by) or Anonymous.

Also, if you gave your email at Bible study on 1/20/08, and you haven't received an email yet, that means I got your address wrong, so please email me at rboyer6@gmail.com to give me the correct one.

Thanks!

I enjoyed the Womans' Bible Study very much!
I feel Titus chapter 2:1-15 describes a lot of what was being shared with us.I'm so thankful for the Holy Spirit who leads us and guides us,makes intercession for us,has sealed us unto the day of redemption. He who comforts us (as Jesus said,"I will not leave you comfortless") The Word does say,We will know each other by our love one for another and we will bear fruit, fruit of the Spirit;love ,joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness
goodness,meekness,faith,temperance.

I am so grateful for this blog. Thank you, Rachel, for suggesting it and taking on the job of getting it started. I am looking forward to checking it often. Beth's studies are definitely enhanced by sound discussion.

Thanks for your comment, Anonymous! I agree that Titus 2 also gives a great picture of what the Spirit works in those who trust in Christ.

To that I say, "Amen!" I need all the help I can get. ;-)

I am so very blessed to be in this study,it has really touched my heart and soul!It has addresses some things in my life, doesn't the Word of God do just that! God is so good to us despite those valleys we find ourselves in sometimes;but he is still with us,even in those valleys,as she stressed today,God loves us!He wants what's best for us!I'm so Thankful that He is with us through everything,we truly are not alone.I Thank God for His Son and His Holy Spirit who leads and guides us into all truth! To Him be all the Glory!!

Glad you're here! One of the things I appreciate most about the videos and having homework is that the Word of God is never far away from what's going on in my life--I can't get away with my usual tendency of hearing the Word intellectually and then stowing it away unnoticed during the day-to-day busyness of life. It's when the Word gets past the barriers and enters into the deep places of life that the Spirit works most powerfully. I like how this study makes lots of opportunities for the doors to my soul to get opened up to let the Spirit into all the different rooms.

as she stressed today,God loves us!

Yes! I'm so thankful he never rejects me.

Today I felt my heart swell and soar for the first time in many months. I like many of you know Jesus as my personal savior. Some days I have my own identy crisis, but today so loud and clear I felt like a "princess" and have been chosen to be Royalty. yes, me and you are royalty. For a moment I closed my eyes and saw myself all dressed up in my princess attire and Gods word spoke down deep as I heard him say to me "You are a chosen people a royal priesthood."We are daughters of the King. Thanks be to God for sending us Beth Moore to open His Words up to us in fresh and fibriant way.

I'm so happy for you! Doesn't it feel SO GOOD?

Some days I have my own identy crisis,

What an appropriate description. Sometimes I think the hardest job we have as Christians is just to remember who we are in Christ--and when that identity is lost or forgotten, it really is a crisis.

but today so loud and clear I felt like a "princess" and have been chosen to be Royalty. yes, me and you are royalty. For a moment I closed my eyes and saw myself all dressed up in my princess attire and Gods word spoke down deep as I heard him say to me "You are a chosen people a royal priesthood."We are daughters of the King.

Now I'm getting goose bumps. I pray that God brings that picture of you in your gorgeous finery to your mind often over the next days and weeks and years.

Thanks be to God for sending us Beth Moore to open His Words up to us in fresh and fibriant way.

I love how faithful he is to send us what we need. He sends out himself and his Word in as many ways as it takes for us to hear him--and he never gives up.

I'm so glad you wrote--your comment is a bit of sunshine to brighten any day.
